OpenAI is seeking an entry-level Security Engineer, Infrastructure Security for a construction-focused role based in the USA. The Infrastructure Security (InfraSec) team protects OpenAI's research and production environments, including GPU supercomputing clusters, multi-cloud infrastructure, datacenters, networking, storage, and frontier AI model services.
Responsibilities and Role Focus
- Design and build security controls across physical hardware, firmware/BMC, OS, Kubernetes, networks, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with engineering and security teams to deploy security enhancements across broad-scale infrastructure.
- Work on high-impact projects such as checkpoint encryption, network isolation, secret management, and machine identity.
- Secure on-prem deployments and datacenters through all stages from construction to multi-tenant use.
Candidate Requirements
- Understanding of security principles, best practices, and common vulnerabilities.
- Proactive mindset for identifying and addressing security gaps using automation and tooling.
- Experience securing cloud platforms like AWS and Azure, alongside on-prem datacenter deployments.
- Familiarity with container security, orchestration, authentication, and authorization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
