Senior Database Administrator - Core Infrastructure

Kraken is seeking a Senior Database Administrator - Core Infrastructure to join our IT team on a senior level, with opportunities to work remotely across Europe (including Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechia, Hungary, Ireland, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, the UK) and the UAE. In this IT role, you will help scale and tune high-throughput MariaDB clusters, enhance database security, and build automation to support our global financial infrastructure platform.

Key Responsibilities and Background

We are looking for candidates who hold a Bachelor's degree and bring 5+ years of experience operating MariaDB or MySQL in high-volume production environments. Your day-to-day work will involve strengthening high-availability and disaster-recovery approaches, improving observability and alert quality, and partnering with service teams to drive better performance patterns.

• Hands-on experience with database proxies or load-balancing layers such as HAProxy, ProxySQL, or MaxScale
• Practical experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code workflows, with ideal experience in Terraform
• Solid cloud, Linux, and networking fundamentals alongside container and Kubernetes orchestration experience
• Strong security instincts and communication skills for cross-team collaboration
• Participation in on-call rotations focused on preventative engineering and predictable operations
