Abuse Research Engineer - Senior Engineering Role in the USA at Stripe
Stripe is hiring a Senior-Level Abuse Research Engineer for the Abuse Research Group (ARG) in the USA. In this engineering position, you will conduct proactive threat hunting, analyze adversary behavior, and map end-to-end fraud and abuse paths across Stripe's financial infrastructure platform. Core Responsibilities
- Formulate hypotheses and execute iterative threat hunting operations across internal telemetry and external sources.
- Apply and enrich the FT3 (Fraud Taxonomy 3.0) framework to standardize threat intelligence across kill chain phases and targeted API endpoints.
- Partner with teams like Fraud Intelligence to integrate and automate threat feeds into engineering workflows.
- Translate raw research into actionable threat advisories and control recommendations for stakeholders in Fraud, Risk, Onboarding, and Security.
- Utilize agentic automated testing frameworks to simulate adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and generate regression scenarios.
Candidate Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in threat intelligence, threat hunting, or technical incident response within cyber security, product abuse, or trust domains.
- 5+ years of experience analyzing large, complex datasets using data analytics tools to identify anomalies and map behavioral trends.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Expert proficiency in Python and SQL for scripting, workflow automation, tool building, and querying big data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience in log analysis, digital forensics, and cyber investigation methods.
