Director of Production Engineering in the USA

Legion is seeking a senior-level Director of Production Engineering (also referred to as Director of Engineering, DevOps & SRE) to lead teams responsible for the availability, scalability, and security of our production environment. This remote role across the USA offers a salary of $220,000 - $265,000. It is a hands-on leadership position where you will spend roughly 20-30% of your time contributing directly to architecture, tooling, and incident response, with the remainder focused on vision, roadmap, and cross-team execution.

Core Responsibilities

  • Hire, build, mentor, and manage a globally-distributed DevOps and SRE engineering team.
  • Own the reliability and infrastructure roadmap for our AWS-based production environment, utilizing services such as EKS, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, and S3.
  • Lead security operations (SecOps) including vulnerability management, threat detection, incident response, and audit-readiness.
  • Drive Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), CI/CD automation, and observability practices using platforms like Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Participate in the Incident Management on-call rotation and apply agentic AI infrastructure concepts to software development and DevOps workflows.

Candidate Requirements

  • 8-12 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or production infrastructure roles, including people management experience.
  • Deep hands-on experience running production workloads on AWS and Linux/Unix platforms (Amazon Linux, Ubuntu, RHEL/CentOS).
