Discord is looking for a senior-level Engineering Manager, Notifications to lead our full-stack Notifications team within the Growth organization in the USA. In this engineering role, you will guide a team operating business-critical systems that fan out to hundreds of millions of users, managing everything from Elixir services and Python backends to pubsub pipelines and Kubernetes infrastructure.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of full-stack engineers building and operating the notifications platform and orchestration layer.
• Set technical direction for infrastructure, ensuring reliable scaling as volume and complexity grow.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, and Marketing to define the notifications roadmap and drive engagement through experimentation and metrics.
• Collaborate with platform consumers across Discord to evolve shared primitives and support strategic planning.

Requirements and Compensation

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer building backend or infrastructure systems at scale, alongside 2 or more years of experience as an Engineering Manager. You should bring strong ownership, production system experience with Elixir, Python, pubsub, and Kubernetes, and a track record of growing engineers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000 to $341,000, plus equity and benefits. Individual pay within this range is determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
