Databricks is seeking a senior-level Engineering professional for the Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering - CMEG role based in the USA. In this senior engineering leadership position, you will lead a team of Forward Deployed Engineers partnering with strategic enterprise customers across Communications, Media, Entertainment & Gaming to drive cloud migrations, AI transformation, and lakehouse adoption. The salary for this position is $211,800, and candidates outside the primary location will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities for the Engineering Role
- Oversee regional performance targets, team growth, hiring, and billable utilization across the FDE portfolio.
- Partner with Account Executives and Field Engineering leaders to scope and deliver Professional Services programs for data migrations and AI/ML platforms.
- Establish project oversight, risk management, and quality standards while serving as an escalation point for high-stakes customer situations.
- Provide direct feedback to Engineering and Product management from field insights to help guide the Databricks roadmap.
- Mentor Forward Deployed Engineers through structured career pathways, technical coaching, and continuous professional growth.
- Travel to customer sites and company offices approximately 20% of the time.
Candidate Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- 4+ years of people leadership experience managing technical delivery teams, solution architects, or professional services organizations.
- 5+ years of hands-on individual contributor experience as a technical solutions architect or data/AI engineer.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale data platform migrations and AI/ML programs within enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of technical project delivery, SOW management, and professional services metrics alongside C-suite stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with Databricks, Apache Spark™, MLflow, Delta Lake, or the broader modern data and AI ecosystem.
