Frequently asked questions

Is gratuity in Qatar calculated on basic or gross salary?

On your last basic salary only. Housing, transport, and other allowances are excluded.

Do I get gratuity if I resign in Qatar?

Yes. Once you complete one year of continuous service you are entitled to gratuity whether you resign or are terminated, unless you are dismissed for one of the specific gross violations listed in Article 61 of the Labour Law.

Can my contract give more than 21 days per year?

Yes. Three weeks per year is the legal minimum. If your contract or company policy grants a higher rate, the higher rate applies — enter it in the calculator.

Do I get gratuity for less than one year of service?

No. One full year of continuous service is required before gratuity becomes payable.

Is there a maximum limit on gratuity in Qatar?

No. The Labour Law does not set an upper cap — the gratuity keeps growing with each year of service.
