- Numbers beat adjectives. "Hardworking salesman" says nothing; "achieved 120% of quarterly target for 6 quarters" gets interviews. Add one number to every experience bullet you can.
- Match the job ad's words. Many companies scan CVs with software (ATS) before a human reads them. If the ad says "inventory management", your CV should say "inventory management" — not a synonym.
- One or two pages maximum. Under 10 years of experience = 1 page. More = 2 pages. Nobody reads page 3.
- Gulf CVs are different: employers there expect the personal details table (nationality, passport, visa status) and often a formal photo — things Western CVs deliberately leave out. Use template 4 for Gulf applications and templates 1-3 for everywhere else.
- Save as PDF before sending (File → Save As → PDF) unless the employer specifically asks for Word — PDF keeps your formatting identical on every device.
- Filename matters: "Ahmed-Khan-CV.pdf", not "final-cv-2(1).pdf".
Frequently asked questions
Are these CV templates really free?
Yes — completely free, no sign-up, no watermark. Download, fill, and use them for any job application.
Can I open these templates in Google Docs or on mobile?
Yes. Upload the .docx to Google Drive and open with Google Docs, or use the free Word/Docs mobile apps. All formatting is standard and survives the conversion.
Should I put my photo on my CV?
For Gulf countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar) — yes, a formal photo is commonly expected. For Europe, UK, USA, Canada and Australia — no, photos are discouraged and can get your CV filtered out. Template 4 covers the Gulf style; templates 1-3 are photo-free by design.
What is an ATS-friendly CV?
ATS (Applicant Tracking System) is software that scans CVs before humans see them. ATS-friendly means: standard section headings, no tables for the main content, no images or graphics in the text flow, and keywords matching the job advertisement. All four templates here follow these rules.
CV aur Resume mein kya farq hai?
In Pakistan, the Gulf and most of Asia, the two words are used interchangeably. Technically a resume is 1 page and tightly targeted, while a CV can be longer — but for job applications in our region, employers mean the same document by both words.
