Chief Information Security Officer

UpGuard is seeking a Chief Information Security Officer for a senior-level Security position based in Australia. Backed by a US$75M Series C funding, UpGuard is scaling its infrastructure to process 100 billion risk signals daily and redefining cyber risk management through its Cyber Risk Posture Management (CRPM) platform.

About the CISO Role in Australia

This is a non-conventional Chief Information Security Officer position reporting directly to the CEO, featuring a structured transition period alongside the outgoing CISO. The successful candidate will own the entire enterprise technology stack, combining security and infrastructure, identity, end-user compute, networking, cloud platform, and workplace technology into a single accountability. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree and be ready to step into a fresh experience level where infrastructure and operations management at scale take precedence over a governance-first background.

• Remit Ownership: Lead full technology and security operations with no handoffs or shared ownership, managing a lean, opinionated environment that utilizes Google Workspace, Okta, macOS, ChromeOS, and managed browsers for BYOD without a Microsoft footprint.
• Team Leadership: Direct and grow a team of nine full-time equivalents spanning four functions: IT Operations, Security Operations, Cloud Platform Engineering, and GRC.
• SecOps Maturation: Deepen investments in Google SecOps and the n8n automation platform to scale detection, analytics, orchestration, and response across enterprise and product systems.
• Identity & Perimeter: Oversee end-to-end IAM across the GCP project estate, identity governance for the global workforce, and ZTNA as the strategic access model.
• Product Ambassadorship: Act as customer zero by running UpGuard Cyber Risk extensively, feeding insights directly to Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams.
