Cloud Engineer (Intern)

Mactores, the agent-native AWS modernization firm, is seeking candidates for a Cloud Engineer (Intern) IT role. This remote internship is open to applicants with a Bachelor's degree and requires no prior experience, offering market competitive compensation.

Cloud Engineer (Intern) Responsibilities and Duties

As a Cloud Engineer intern, you will build the foundations for infrastructure and application modernization in real customer environments. Your day-to-day tasks include implementing cloud architectures defined by Solutions Architects on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform, and supporting customer cloud deployments within a 24x7 operational support system. You will monitor customer production infrastructure in rotational shifts, improve monitoring and alerting through automation, and prepare and present monthly operational reports on schedule. Additional responsibilities involve helping the team adopt new technologies, using off-the-shelf and open-source tools such as Chef and scripting languages to manage infrastructure reliably, and maintaining existing enterprise infrastructure.

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications

Candidates must possess strong Windows and Linux systems administration skills, including experience migrating and architecting multi-tier applications to private or public cloud infrastructure. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for updating customers and internal teams on issues, escalations, and RCAs, along with the ability to communicate architecture visually. Preferred qualifications include prior experience working on AWS, GCP, and Azure, configuration management experience with Ansible, Chef, or Puppet, and certifications such as AWS Cloud Solutions Architect Associate or Professional, RHEL Certified Engineer, Azure certifications, or Snowflake certifications.
