OpenAI is seeking a senior-level Community Engagement Lead for a marketing and communications role based in the USA, specifically acting as the primary liaison for data center development projects in Effingham County and the greater Savannah Metropolitan Area. Operating within the Industrial Compute team, this position requires an experienced professional to build trust-based relationships with local leaders, manage public reputation, and integrate community priorities into infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with local leaders, community organizations, NGOs, and residents.
• Develop and execute community engagement strategies for new and existing sites while representing OpenAI in public forums and hearings.
• Partner with Economic Development and Environmental leads on incentive compliance, community benefits, and sustainability efforts.
• Monitor community sentiment, advise executives on risks and opportunities, and create a scalable community engagement playbook.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree and bring 8+ years of professional experience in community affairs, public engagement, or corporate communications. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of engaging diverse stakeholders for large infrastructure or technology projects, alongside strong public speaking skills and the ability to manage sensitive political and reputational issues.
