DevOps Engineer (Intern)

Mactores, an agent-native AWS modernization firm, is seeking candidates for a DevOps Engineer (Intern) IT role. This remote internship is open to applicants with a Bachelor's degree and requires no prior professional experience. Compensation is market competitive.

About the DevOps Engineer Internship at Mactores

As a DevOps Engineer intern working anywhere remotely, you will join the team managing large customer deployments, including Linux and Windows administration, large enterprise applications, and big data workloads. Rather than carrying the senior engineers' commitment of owning cutover, you will learn the agent-native craft by focusing on real operational work.

Your responsibilities include:

• Working operations tickets and the project task queue with the DevOps team.
• Communicating with Engineering to roll out broad customer changes.
• Automating operational and server provisioning workflows using AWS CloudFormation templates.
• Sharing responsibility for deployment releases and operations maintenance.
• Improving operations infrastructure, such as Jenkins clusters, Bitbucket, Consul, and metrics tools like Graphite and Grafana.
• Providing operational support for Engineering.
• Helping migrate remaining dedicated hardware infrastructure to the cloud.

Requirements and Recruitment

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and a conceptual understanding of version control systems like Git (including branching and merging), cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP, and Snowflake. You also need a conceptual understanding of or exposure to software build tools such as Maven and Gradle, continuous integration tools like Jenkins, experience supporting Java-based applications in production, and familiarity with Linux environments and scripting languages including Bash, Python, and Groovy.
