Principal AI Engineer

Able, an engineering and product hub currently transitioning into an AI-native organization, is seeking a Principal AI Engineer for a 100% remote IT role based in LATAM. In this senior position, you will lead the design and implementation of production AI systems, setting the technical bar for AI as the company evolves its software development lifecycle. Core Responsibilities

• Lead technical conversations, build applications and proofs of concepts, and establish AI/ML guidelines across the organization and for partners.
• Spot market opportunities, bringing a builder's instinct and background as a technical founder or early-stage engineer to evaluate commercial viability.
• Drive Able's AI strategy forward by constantly exploring and implementing cutting-edge AI technologies and frameworks.
• Consult with partners and prospects to identify business challenges and introduce AI solutions to improve performance.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and training to continuously enhance team capabilities in AI best practices.

Requirements & Background

Applicants must hold a PhD or specialized diploma, with a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred. You must bring 12+ years of experience building, shipping, and operating AI/ML systems in production. Essential technical requirements include fluency with the modern LLM stack—frontier models, RAG, vector databases, agentic frameworks, evals, and guardrails—as well as experience operating in the spec-and-harness model using agentic coding tools like Claude Code and Cursor. Excellent English verbal and written communication skills are required to effectively interact with executive stakeholders and partners.
