Polar is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join its engineering-led team working remotely across Europe. In this senior-level IT role, you will architect and evolve the Polar platform, which operates as a merchant of record handling global payments, billing infrastructure, and financial workflows. Because the platform sits directly in the critical path of financial transactions, reliability, uptime, and correctness are essential alongside the ability to ship product improvements quickly.

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree and have 5 to 8 years of relevant experience. You will work across platform, application, and infrastructure layers to ensure the system scales smoothly under increasing traffic, architectural complexity, and regulatory demands without compromising performance or developer velocity.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and evolve systems to maintain high availability, predictable performance, and operational stability.
• Identify bottlenecks, optimize critical paths, and strengthen distributed services under load.
• Define SLOs and SLIs, improve incident response, and reduce operational toil.
• Evolve infrastructure-as-code, environment management, and operational safety mechanisms.
• Refine CI/CD systems, rollout strategies, and rollback mechanisms for fast, safe deployments.
• Advance logging, metrics, and tracing standards for better observability and debuggability.
