Staff Software Engineer - IT Role in Australia
UpGuard is reimagining how organizations manage cyber risk, scaling our platform to process 100 billion risk signals daily. We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer for our IT team in Australia to shape technical direction across Product Engineering. You will remain hands-on in the code while owning architecture decisions that span multiple squads, tackling major scaling challenges using React, TypeScript, Go, Postgres, and Kubernetes on Google Cloud Platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Stay hands-on by shipping features in a squad alongside product managers and designers.
- Set cross-team technical direction and own architecture decisions spanning multiple squads.
- Lead our hardest scaling and data problems as we grow toward 100 billion risk signals daily.
- Raise the engineering bar org-wide through code review, standards, and mentoring.
- Shape the product roadmap alongside engineering and product leadership.
Requirements & Workflow
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience at product-driven, tech-centric companies.
- Strong skills in TypeScript, React, a backend language like Go, and Postgres.
- Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor as your default workflow.
- Pragmatic trade-off judgment and a track record of setting technical direction across multiple teams.
