Staff Software Engineer, Product (Montevideo)

LawnStarter is seeking a remote Staff Software Engineer, Product in Montevideo to join our IT engineering team. LawnStarter is an on-demand marketplace for lawn care and outdoor services with over $100M in annual bookings, currently expanding into a one-stop shop for all home services across our three brands: LawnStarter, Lawn Love, and Home Gnome. This entry-level position is designed for candidates with 0-2 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree, offering a salary of $80k - $100k.

Key Responsibilities and Ownership

In this role, you will serve as the engineering anchor for an initiative, working in a tight team alongside a Product Manager and a designer. You will own the technical approach—including architecture, data modeling, integration choices, and rollback strategies. A significant portion of the code on your initiative will be authored by AI agents, and you will be responsible for directing these agents, setting up guardrails, prompts, and tests to ensure production-ready quality. You will write hand-written code for sensitive areas yourself and collaborate with your team to measure and own the actual metric outcomes of your work 2–4 weeks post-launch.

Candidate Qualifications

• Must be located in Montevideo, Uruguay for this remote position.
• A completed Bachelor's degree.
• 0-2 years of experience (Entry Level).
• Comfortable working in a shared codebase and collaborating cross-functionally.
