Agentic AI Application Developer | Remote | Req #R68149
Full-Time | Fully Remote
A little about us
MANTECH has been around since 1968, and honestly, we're proud of that. We work closely with the Department of Defense, federal agencies, and intelligence communities to build technology that actually matters. It's not glamorous in the way startups are, but the work is real and the impact is real. We focus on things like cybersecurity, data analytics, IT, and software development — all in support of national security.
So what's this role about?
Fair warning — this is listed as a future opportunity, meaning we're collecting applications now for a role we're actively building toward. So if the timing isn't perfect, it might still be worth throwing your hat in.
We need someone to join a remote team working on an AI initiative for the Air Force Civil Engineer Center — specifically their Cost Estimation program. The goal is to take some pretty manual, inconsistent workflows and rebuild them using AI agents that can actually think through problems and get things done without someone holding their hand every step of the way.
You'd be designing and building those agents, connecting them to external tools and APIs, and making sure they're reliable enough to use in a real environment. A big chunk of the job is also working with other teams — engineers, stakeholders, security folks — to make sure what you're building actually fits into the bigger picture.
What we're hoping you bring
Look, the minimum bar here is pretty accessible. We're open to entry-level candidates — if you have a degree in something technical (CS, data science, math, stats) and you've spent time actually working with Python and AI tools, we want to hear from you. You should have a basic understanding of how LLMs work, how to write decent prompts, and how to pull data from APIs.
That said, if you've got two or more years of experience and you've actually built something with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or the OpenAI API — even a personal project — you'll stand out. Same goes if you've worked on anything with cloud deployments or you've thought about what "secure AI" actually means in practice.
One hard requirement
You need to be a U.S. citizen. This role requires the ability to get and hold a DoD Secret clearance — that's non-negotiable given what we do.
Pay and benefits
The salary range is $63,500 to $105,900. Where you land depends on your experience, location, and the specifics of the contract. Beyond the paycheck, we offer the usual — health and life insurance, PTO, holidays, disability coverage, a retirement plan, and some learning and development support. There are optional add-ons too depending on the position.
One last thing
MANTECH doesn't discriminate. We look at all qualified candidates regardless of disability, veteran status, or anything else protected by law. If you need any kind of accommodation while applying, just email careers@mantech.com with your name and contact info and someone will get back to you.
