Chief of Staff - CTO

Coursera is seeking an experienced leader to join our organization as a Chief of Staff - CTO. This senior-level management role is based in the USA and focuses on serving as a strategic integrator for our Chief Technology Officer, connecting high-level strategy to daily execution. As a Delaware public benefit corporation and a B Corp, Coursera operates one of the world's largest online learning platforms, supporting 205 million registered learners and partnering with over 375 leading university and industry institutions. We are looking for a professional to help us scale our technical operations and translate our company strategy into a cohesive, high-performance operating system.

Core Objectives

The Chief of Staff - CTO operates at the intersection of strategy and operations to drive alignment and accountability across our technical teams. Your primary goals include:

• Designing and evolving frameworks that bring structure and visibility to planning, goal-setting, and performance tracking.
• Translating company strategy into functional operating systems that connect priorities and plans across teams.
• Enabling high-quality decision-making through data, narratives, and governance models that clarify resource allocation and tradeoffs.
• Strengthening the leadership system within the Tech organization to increase focus and follow-through.
• Managing the CTO’s operating rhythm, including the review of key performance indicators (KPIs) and partnering with Finance, People, and Administration to drive strategic change initiatives.

Requirements and Compensation

To be successful in this role, you must be a customer-first builder who can simplify complex processes and iterate based on metrics. Candidates are required to hold a Master’s degree and possess 12-15 years of relevant professional experience. The salary range for this position is $188,480 – $235,600.
