We're Hiring Freelance Writers
We are looking for content writer. The work is article and blog post writing, covering a pretty broad mix of topics, and we're hoping to find people who can write clearly, do their homework on a subject, and turn things around without us having to babysit deadlines.
Pay is $20 per 100 words. In practice that usually shakes out to about $100 per article, and most writers end up making somewhere around $50 an hour once they get into a rhythm.
Here's roughly what we cover, though honestly this list keeps growing: health and beauty, fitness, home decor, fashion, sports, DIY, finance, legal, medical, parenting and family stuff, relationships, real estate, restaurants, and contracting work (think plumbing, pool building, remodeling, that kind of thing).
A couple notes on that list. First, it's not exhaustive, just a sample of what shows up most often. Second, if you've got actual background in one of these areas, say so. A nurse writing about medical topics or a contractor writing about remodeling tends to produce stuff that's just better, more specific, fewer dumb mistakes. And on the flip side, nobody's forcing you to write about something you're not into. If a topic lands on your desk and it's not your thing, just pass on it.
What we need from you: write in a normal word processor (Word, OpenOffice, whatever you've got), have internet that doesn't flake out on you, hit your deadlines, and actually respond when an editor checks in instead of going dark for three days. We're a team here, so playing well with the rest of the editorial staff matters too.
