Major Gifts Officer

Mozilla Foundation is seeking a senior-level Major Gifts Officer for a sales-focused fundraising role available in Canada, Germany, the UK, and the USA. This remote or distributed senior position offers a starting salary of $50,000 and requires a Bachelor's degree alongside more than five years of professional experience.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

As a Major Gifts Officer, you will sit within the Development team and work closely with the VP of Development, program staff, and executive leadership. Your core responsibility is to personally solicit and close five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts ranging from $50,000 to $1M+ from high-net-worth individuals, moving donors from initial interest to a signed commitment. During your first six months, you will take charge of existing Salesforce pipelines, advance active prospects toward solicitation, partner with research teams to qualify new leads, and design tailored proposals and stewardship events.

• Manage and systematically advance a portfolio of major donor relationships through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Translate Mozilla's work in digital rights and internet health into compelling, tailored cases for support.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and program staff to engage donors at key moments.
• Maintain accurate relationship histories and interaction logs within Salesforce.
• Build a sustainable base of renewing supporters and help convert annual donors into major giving pipelines.

Professional Profile and Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Major Gifts Officer position:

• At least 5+ years of relevant professional experience and a Bachelor's degree.
• A proven track record in major gift fundraising, ideally within technology, advocacy, or public interest sectors.
• Demonstrated, direct success in personally soliciting and closing five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts with high-net-worth individuals.
• The ability to conceive, plan, and execute a major gifts program while managing a growing donor portfolio.
