Our physician networks are the backbone of everything we do, and they're what let us deliver real impact in medical education and market insight. If you join M3, you're joining a team that genuinely cares about moving healthcare forward, and you'll have plenty of room to grow while you do it.
About Michael Allen Company
Michael Allen Company (MAC) is a healthcare management consulting firm based in Darien, CT. We've spent the last forty years helping pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical product companies grow — not through cookie-cutter playbooks, but through sharp analysis, experienced consultants, and engagements built around what each client actually needs.
Our specialties run across pipeline and product planning, sales and marketing effectiveness, resource allocation, and growth strategy for healthcare companies operating globally. We've built a strong reputation in pharma, biotech, and medical devices by digging into the data available in this industry and turning it into commercial strategies that actually move the needle for products that improve and save lives.
The Role
We're looking for a Sales Consultant to join our Business Development team — someone who can drive revenue through full-service consulting work, with a particular focus on primary market research, analytics, and strategic advisory for pharma and life science clients.
You'll spend your time prospecting and building relationships, working hand-in-hand with our consulting teams to shape and deliver engagements that matter. Think of yourself as the connective tissue between clients, business development, and the people doing the consulting work — figuring out what clients need, helping design the right solution, and staying involved to make sure it lands well.
What you'll be doing:
Driving revenue, both by bringing in new clients and growing the accounts we already have
Reaching out to pharma and life science companies to uncover opportunities across consulting, analytics, and primary market research
Building real relationships with clients and becoming someone they trust for commercial strategy and market insight
Putting together proposals, statements of work, and go-to-market plans that actually fit what the client is trying to accomplish
Working closely with our internal consulting teams to scope out and position engagements the right way
Coordinating with Project Managers and Managing Consultants so projects run smoothly and clients walk away satisfied
Leading client conversations to understand where their business is heading and matching them with the right MAC capabilities
Pulling insights from client and market data to help shape our business development approach
We're looking for someone who's organized, curious, and has a track record in business development, primary market research, or analytics within life sciences — someone who can analyze a problem, communicate clearly, and solve what comes up along the way.
What We're Looking For
At least 5 years in business development or a client-facing role within healthcare, life sciences, or consulting
A track record of selling consulting, analytics, or primary market research services
Experience at a healthcare professional services firm, market research firm, or life sciences company is a plus
Solid grasp of primary market research methods, both qualitative and quantitative, along with analytics
A demonstrated ability to prospect, build, and close deals with pharma and life science clients
Skill at writing proposals and sales communications that are clear, compelling, and strategic
Strong organizational and leadership instincts — you can juggle multiple priorities and deadlines without dropping the ball
Comfort working across consulting, analytics, and commercial teams
A solid understanding of how drug development, commercialization, and marketing work in biopharma
Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to hold your own with senior stakeholders
Why Join MAC
We offer competitive pay along with a benefits package that includes:
Health and dental coverage
Life, accident, and disability insurance
Prescription drug plan
Flexible spending account
401(k) with company match
Paid holidays and vacation
Sick days and personal days
