Senior Manager Cost Optimization – Building Systems at GROPYUS in Berlin
GROPYUS, a technology-based construction company located in Berlin, is seeking a Senior Manager Cost Optimization – Building Systems (Schwerpunkt Prozesse & Industrialisierung) (m/w/d) for a senior-level management role. The company focuses on manufacturing sustainable, affordable, and multi-story residential timber buildings using prefabricated systems, industrial offsite construction, and fully digitalized processes.
Your Responsibilities
- Help develop and implement the cost optimization strategy for building systems across the product portfolio.
- Apply Design-to-Cost, Should-Cost, Value-Engineering, and Target-Costing methods spanning product development, manufacturing, procurement, and construction.
- Identify and prioritize cost reduction potential for building systems, components, materials, and construction interfaces.
- Build and maintain transparent cost models and benchmarks using actual-versus-target cost comparisons.
- Drive cross-functional cost optimization initiatives and collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Construction, and R&D teams.
Requirements and Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in cost engineering, product costing, value engineering, industrial engineering, operational excellence, or cost optimization within automotive, aerospace, shipbuilding, lean manufacturing, or high-volume production environments.
- Proven application of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methods.
- Demonstrated success in delivering measurable cost reductions through cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills to translate technical solutions into economic impacts.
- Willingness to travel regularly between company locations and business-fluent English skills.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with industrialized construction, modular building systems, timber construction, knowledge of German-speaking construction markets, digital costing tools, and business-fluent German skills.
Salary for this position is market competitive. Intermediate education level is required.
