Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Flex is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join its IT team. This position is open to candidates in Brazil, Canada, and the USA, with opportunities for remote work and physical office hubs in San Francisco, Miami, New York, and Colombia. Since launching publicly in September 2023, Flex has rapidly scaled by building an AI-native private bank designed specifically for ambitious business owners.

Role Responsibilities

In this position, you will take ownership of large domains and features related to card processing, card issuing, and the core ledgering of financial transactions. You will play a critical role in developing, designing, and maintaining the platform while architecting robust services and data models that support continued growth. Working within a nimble team, you will handle problems end-to-end—from API contracts and data scalability to security, observability, and metrics. You will also mentor fellow engineers and drive best-in-class technology frameworks. Participation in an on-call rotation to support the servicing team is required.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelors degree.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience with a strong track record of shipping products.
• Proficiency in NodeJS and TypeScript, paired with solid server design principles.
• Understanding of architectural patterns for highly available, scalable, low-latency, asynchronous systems.
• Experience with cloud-based providers like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to make data-driven technical decisions.
