Senior SRE - Networks in the UK
Fastly is seeking a senior-level IT professional for a Senior SRE - Networks role based in the UK. Operating within Fastly's Technical Operations team, this position focuses on building, operating, and maintaining the global network footprint of the Fastly Edge Cloud Platform, which spans six continents with over 100 points of presence and 578 Tbps of connected capacity.
Core Responsibilities
- Build, operate, and maintain Fastly's growing global network footprint.
- Lead network incident response and resolve failure scenarios using expertise in IP routing and BGP.
- Write performant, maintainable code, participate in code reviews, and contribute to team processes.
- Partner in developing tools and automation systems for network operations.
- Innovate monitoring methods focused on end-user experience and performance analytics.
- Advocate for network stability and mentor team members on global routing and anycast environments.
Candidate Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree.
- Experience: 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong knowledge of global internet protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, Anycast, and DNS.
- Coding and automation experience in languages such as Python.
- Proficiency with Tier 1 ISPs, Internet exchanges, and cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure).
- Ability to analyze traffic patterns using flow-based tools and monitoring platforms like Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins, Ansible), and Linux/Unix administration.
- Strong documentation, knowledge-sharing, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
