OpenAI is hiring a senior-level Software Engineer, Infrastructure Security for an IT position based in the USA. In this role, you will join the Infrastructure Security team to safeguard the core of OpenAI’s research and production environments, including GPU supercomputing clusters, multi-cloud infrastructure, datacenters, networking, and storage that power frontier AI models.
Infrastructure Security Responsibilities
You will design and build foundational services that demand high reliability and scalability under intense scale and adversarial pressure. Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Architecting and implementing production-grade security services such as authentication systems, access brokers, secure proxies, and key-management infrastructure.
- Partnering with infrastructure and research engineers to embed security into high-performance compute clusters.
- Developing automation and detection tooling to continuously identify and mitigate risks in cloud and on-prem environments.
- Driving high-impact initiatives like line-speed encryption, machine identity, and network isolation.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree and have 5+ years of professional experience. Candidates should also meet the following criteria:
- Strong software engineering skills in Python, Go, Rust, or C/C++, with a track record of shipping distributed services.
- Experience building or operating critical security infrastructure like auth services, proxies, and key-management systems.
- Expertise in securing large-scale cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, alongside familiarity with Kubernetes and container security.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
