Staff Product Engineer (Montevideo)

LawnStarter is seeking a remote Staff Product Engineer in Montevideo, Uruguay, to join our growing engineering team. This is an entry-level engineering position offering a salary of $80k - $100k for candidates who hold a Bachelor's degree and have 0-2 years of experience. LawnStarter is an on-demand marketplace for lawn care and outdoor services, operating across three brands—LawnStarter, Lawn Love, and Home Gnome—on a single shared platform with over $100M in annual bookings.

In this Staff Product Engineer role, you will serve as the engineering anchor for a specific initiative, working in a tight-knit team alongside a Product Manager and a designer, with support from an Engineering Manager. You will have a hand in the full product lifecycle, from shaping the initial problem to deciding on the technical approach and directing AI coding agents to implement much of the code. While AI agents accelerate the work, you will write hand-written code yourself in sensitive areas and ensure everything meets a high quality bar.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Approach: Own the architecture, data model, integration choices, rollout plan, and rollback strategy for your initiative.
• Implementation Quality: Manage the prompts, guardrails, evals, and tests that allow AI agents to ship safe, correct, and production-ready code.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate daily with your PM on scope and tradeoffs, and with your designer on UX decisions and prototyping.
• Initiative Outcomes: Take accountability for the specific metrics your initiative is designed to move, presenting the results 2–4 weeks post-launch.
