Staff Software Engineer - Remote IT Role at CodePath
CodePath, the largest educator of college computer science students in the country, is seeking a remote Staff Software Engineer for our IT team. This senior-level position is open to candidates located in the USA, Canada, Europe, or LATAM. You will help scale our sophisticated learning platform—comprising Ruby-based applications for admissions, course delivery, grading, career coaching, and reporting—as we expand our programs and integrate AI technology.
Compensation for US-based applicants ranges from $170,000 to $190,000 per year, with adjustments contingent on location for applicants based in Canada, LATAM, and Europe.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect and build web applications across Ruby on Rails, Sinatra/Padrino, and Django.
- Make consequential technical decisions on infrastructure, data modeling, API design, and emerging technologies.
- Set code quality standards through reviews, architectural guidance, and automated testing.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and mentor other engineers to raise the team's technical ceiling.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, with at least 10+ years of total software engineering experience including Ruby on Rails expertise.
- Strong PostgreSQL and database design skills, plus familiarity with the full web stack from infrastructure to CSS.
- Experience with Claude Code or similar development tools and best practices.
- Systems-thinking orientation and a passion for education.
