Staff Software Engineer - Consumer Revenue Job in the USA
Discord is seeking a senior-level Staff Software Engineer for its Consumer Revenue IT team in the USA. This full-stack product engineering role focuses on building a sustainable business around millions of daily active users who play video games. You will shape the technical strategy connecting premium experiences and core user identity across surfaces like Nitro, Shop, Server Boosting, and User Identity, delivering real value to subscribers without compromising the experience for free users.
Responsibilities and Technical Scope
- Accelerate growth of existing revenue streams and lay the foundation for new monetization opportunities.
- Own complex initiatives end to end by partnering with Product on requirements and technical specs, and working with Design on user experiences.
- Collaborate with Staff Engineers and cross-functional partners across Product, Data Science, Design, and Marketing to drive technical alignment.
- Advise leadership on critical technical considerations for engineering excellence and partner on strategic planning.
- Lead full-stack engineering work across Web, Android, and iOS, setting and achieving technical bars for your team.
- Rapidly prototype new features and synthesize insights through experimentation in ambiguous problem spaces.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of leading impactful large initiatives from inception to launch.
- Full-stack proficiency, including expertise in React/React Native and a solid grasp of Python backend development (using Web with React and TypeScript, Mobile with React Native alongside small amounts of Kotlin, Objective-C, and Swift, and Backend with Python).
- Strong product sense, technical leadership, ownership mentality, holistic problem-solving skills from first principles, performance-focused mindset regarding React and client-server optimization, and a growth mindset.
