Staff Software Engineer - DevX in Canada and USA
Amplitude is seeking a senior-level Staff Software Engineer - DevX to join our IT team. This senior role offers a salary range of $198,000 to $299,000. Core Responsibilities for the DevX Role
- Cloud development platform: Unify and scale local, remote, and ephemeral development environments across a polyglot codebase, making it fast for engineers and AI agents to build, test, and debug.
- Software factory: Identify and automate engineering workflow bottlenecks, including building sandboxes and tooling for direct AI agent execution.
- Developer experience & tooling: Own build systems, CI/CD, and internal tooling to reduce build times, deploy risk, and feedback latency.
- Technical leadership: Set direction and standards, translate ambiguous problems into actionable roadmaps, and mentor senior and staff engineers.
Candidate Requirements
- Staff-level engineering experience and demonstrated impact with a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of professional background.
- Full-stack, infrastructure-leaning skills with strong backend and systems capabilities.
- Experience transitioning team workflows into the cloud, such as VMs, remote environments, preview branches, and sandboxes.
- Proven track record of shipping developer tooling or platform infrastructure that improves engineering velocity.
- Hands-on experience building agentic or AI-powered engineering workflows with responsible human oversight.
- Strong judgment, clear writing, and the ability to drive alignment without formal authority.
