This senior IT role focuses on architecting Kong Identity's multi-tenant identity platform, supporting cross-tenant isolation, complex organizational hierarchies, and enterprise-grade security controls.
Core Responsibilities for the Staff Software Engineer, Identity and Access Management
- Design and implement token management systems, advanced claims engines, and global identity infrastructure with edge optimization.
- Build enterprise identity federation, client management systems, plugin architectures, and developer experience tools like SDKs and audit logging.
- Drive compliance implementations for SOC 2, FedRAMP, and GDPR, while mentoring engineering teams on zero-trust and workload identity concepts.
Candidate Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience building production identity platforms at enterprise software companies or leading identity providers, handling millions of daily authentication requests.
- Expertise: Deep knowledge of OAuth 2.0 extensions, OpenID Connect, cryptographic protocols, multi-tenant architectures, and enterprise identity integration patterns.
