Reddit is a community of communities.
Built on shared interests, real conversations, and a fair amount of trust between strangers who probably wouldn't talk to each other anywhere else, Reddit has grown into one of the internet's biggest gathering spots — over 100,000 active communities and roughly 126 million people stopping by every day. If you want to know what people actually think about something, odds are good you'll find it here. More at www.redditinc.com.
Analytics Engineer — Consumer Data Science
Curious what this team actually does day to day? Our r/RedditEng post lays it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditEng/comments/1mnmf71/analytics_engineering_reddit/
People come to Reddit to fall down rabbit holes — hobbies, niche interests, whatever they're into that week. Our job is to make sure all that collective knowledge is actually findable and useful, for a community of 100,000+ and 120 million-plus daily visitors. It's also why advertisers like working with us: the conversations here are real, and that authenticity is hard to fake elsewhere.
We're hiring someone to join our Analytics Engineering team, sitting inside the broader Data Science org and focused specifically on the Consumer side of the business. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with data scientists, product managers, engineers, and designers, building out the data infrastructure and tooling that the whole Consumer org leans on. Done well, this work doesn't just solve today's problem — it becomes the foundation other people build on for years.
The people who do best in this role genuinely care about why the data exists, not just how to move it around. You'll be the bridge between the people generating data and the people trying to make sense of it, which means this job lives right at the overlap of data science and data engineering — and the strongest candidates are comfortable in both worlds.
We also keep things flexible. Live near one of our offices? Come in whenever it works for you. Not near one? You can work remotely from any country where Reddit has a presence.
What you'll actually be doing:
You'll take ownership of how Consumer data gets collected, structured, and used — building ETLs, dashboards, and aggregations that power everything from feature tracking to retention analysis to A/B testing. Beyond that, you're building and maintaining the pipelines that move and transform this data, working closely with engineering to keep everything reliable. A lot of your time will also go toward building tools other people across Data Science actually want to use — and then making sure those tools spread, with an eye toward consistency and automation rather than one-off fixes. Longer term, you'll help push Reddit toward a culture where people can answer their own data questions without waiting in a queue. You'll also mentor and guide other data scientists and technical partners, and act as a sounding board for leadership as they shape where the data foundation goes next.
What we're looking for:
A degree in something quantitative — statistics, computer science, applied math, economics, physics, or similar — plus at least 4 years building and maintaining large-scale ETL systems, with clean, production-grade code (Python is our preference). You should be comfortable across Python, SQL, Spark, and Scala, and have real experience with data modeling and ETL/ELT patterns, including handling data at serious scale, structured or not.
Familiarity with workflow tools like Airflow is a plus, as is some background in front-end or back-end engineering and a good eye for dashboard and visualization design. You'll need a solid grasp of relational and MPP database design, both technically and functionally.
Just as important: you can talk to anyone, technical or not, and actually collaborate — this isn't a role where you disappear into a corner and ship code in isolation. You should be able to drive things forward on your own steam while still being a strong team player. Experience in consumer products is a nice bonus, and so is hands-on experience working with agentic AI tools in your development workflow.
Benefits:
Global benefits built around how people actually live — covering everything from your workspace setup to professional growth to support for caregivers. We also offer family planning support, gender-affirming care, mental health and coaching benefits, and comprehensive medical coverage...
