Automation Engineer - PLC / Plant Control (m/f/d)

METYCLE is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer - PLC / Plant Control (m/f/d) for a senior-level engineering role based in Cologne (GER). In this position, you will join our international team at an early stage to help build an innovative Smart Sorting Facility for secondary metals, driving the recycling industry into the digital era.

Role Overview in Cologne

You will take full ownership of our plant’s control systems from initial design through commissioning and into stable production. Rather than just buying machinery, we are hiring you to own the control system, standards, documentation, and data that keep the plant running. You will integrate control systems from multiple machine suppliers into one coherent line, manage supplier specifications, and implement OT/IT and Industrial IoT data integration using OPC UA, MQTT, or Modbus TCP.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• 5+ years of hands-on experience programming and commissioning industrial control systems
• Track record of bringing production equipment or complete lines into stable operation
• Deep Siemens TIA Portal / S7-1200 & S7-1500 experience
• Strong skills in SCL, LAD/FBD, HMI/SCADA, and industrial networking
