Contract Software Engineer - DOM Core Firefox/Gecko

Mozilla is seeking a senior-level Contract Software Engineer - DOM Core Firefox/Gecko to join their team in France, Germany, or UK. In this IT role, you will work on the Firefox DOM Core team to improve the health of the Session History area, enabling senior engineers to focus on security, performance, and strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities and Definition of Done

Your primary objective is to improve Session History test coverage and code correctness in Gecko, as measured by passed test cases. Responsibilities include:

• Writing Web-Platform tests to improve coverage, alongside Gecko mochitests as needed.
• Fixing problems and passing tests to enhance Gecko correctness.
• Navigating code reviews with relevant Gecko module owners and iterating until code lands.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree and bring 5+ years of relevant experience. Required qualifications include substantial experience in a browser-engine codebase or in browser-engine automation (ideally Firefox/Gecko), solid JavaScript skills applied to automated test writing, C++ software development proficiency, strong debugging skills in a mature large codebase, and comfort working out in the open with public bugs, code reviews, and upstream landing. Preferred qualifications include prior contributions to Gecko or another major browser engine, as well as familiarity with web standards and Web Platform Tests.
