Dear Hiring Team,
Genuinely wasn't going to apply. Sat on this for three days. Kept convincing myself someone more qualified would get it anyway.
Then I reread it and realized I've actually been doing this job already.
Started out in incident response. Not pre-sales, not anything close to sales — straight forensics, log analysis, figuring out how an attacker moved through an environment at 1am with half the logs missing. Didn't think that would matter later. It does. A lot. Because when I'm in a room with a SOC team now, I'm not performing understanding. I actually have it.
The SE work came after. Took some getting used to honestly. But there's a moment in every good POV where the customer stops pushing back and starts asking implementation questions — and I got addicted to that moment. I've had deals fall apart too. More than a few. You get better or you get bitter, pick one.
Documentation is something I care about weirdly more than most people on my team. Built frameworks, demo scripts, battle cards. Nobody asked me to do half of it. I just kept watching junior SEs waste hours on things I'd already figured out, so I wrote it down. Started helping a couple of them directly. Still do.
CrowdStrike — I've followed the platform closely for a while. I wouldn't be sending this if I thought it was just good marketing.
