Natera is hiring a senior-level Director of Data Science and Bioinformatics for a management position based in the USA. You will lead and grow the bioinformatics function supporting Women's Health and Organ Health product portfolios, establish scalable AWS cloud infrastructure, and ensure the quality of genomic algorithms powering clinical products.
Director of Data Science and Bioinformatics Management Duties
- Build and define the bioinformatics function, identifying tooling gaps and executing roadmaps for genomics-based algorithm development.
- Architect scalable AWS-based infrastructure and implement MLOps tooling for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) algorithms.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Research, Product Development, Laboratory Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams.
- Lead, mentor, and hire a high-performing team of bioinformaticians and data scientists.
Qualifications
- Master of Science or Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or an equivalent quantitative discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Data Science or Bioinformatics.
- At least 5 years of direct people management experience leading technical teams.
- Hands-on experience architecting AWS cloud infrastructure for data-intensive bioinformatics workloads and NGS pipeline execution.
The base salary for this remote USA role starts at $186,300, with a total pay range scaling up to $232,900 USD depending on factors such as candidate skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific office location.
