Spotify is seeking a Senior Level Engineering Manager - Data Platform for their UK team based in London. In this engineering role, you will lead a distributed team of six experienced engineers across Europe within the Data Platform studio, which manages critical event delivery and data pseudonymisation systems used by hundreds of teams daily.
Responsibilities and Technical Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of six experienced engineers, focusing on career growth, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
- Own the team's delivery, manage on-call health and operational reliability, and partner with product stakeholders to shape event delivery and privacy infrastructure roadmaps.
- Drive technical strategy for large-scale distributed data systems and engage credibly in architectural decisions.
- Collaborate across engineering organizations, participate in hiring, and explore how AI and LLMs can transform engineering workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5+ years of relevant experience, including a track record of managing senior or experienced engineering teams and investing in career development.
- Familiarity with distributed data systems, event-driven architectures, or data infrastructure at scale.
- Experience working with distributed teams across different time zones and communicating clearly to build cross-functional trust.
