Xempus AG is seeking an Engineering Manager (m/f/d) for their München location to join the engineering team at a senior level. In this role, you will provide both disciplinary and technical leadership to Software Engineers, supporting cross-functional teams and guiding personal and professional development while aligning engineering activities with the company vision and strategic product goals.

Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager in München

  • Own technical initiatives from initial concept to production, encompassing technical planning, architecture, quality assurance, and ongoing development.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to prioritise technical topics in the product backlog and manage dependencies, risks, and investments transparently.
  • Drive technical decision-making, review solutions, and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and quality requirements.
  • Partner with Product, Operations, and customer-facing teams to connect technical opportunities with business needs.
  • Contribute to the long-term modernisation and scalability of the platform, ensuring stability, performance, and reliable day-to-day operations.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree and bring 5+ years of relevant experience. The ideal applicant possesses extensive background in software development and architecture, substantial development experience with Java (ideally including Spring Boot and common Java libraries), and a strong grasp of design patterns, clean code, databases, APIs, and the complete software development lifecycle.

You must also have prior experience in both technical and disciplinary leadership, along with a track record of coaching engineers and driving AI usage in development and QA. Strategic thinking, strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders, and comfort working in an agile environment are essential. Experience with JavaScript frontend frameworks like Vue.js or React is considered a plus.
