Founding Lead Engineer — AI & Workflow Automation in Berlin

Founders Factory is seeking a senior-level IT professional for a Founding Lead Engineer — AI & Workflow Automation role based in Berlin. In this position, you will help build a new venture tackling Germany’s labour-market challenges by scaling how skilled workers are found, engaged, and hired.

Role and Technical Focus

You will construct the initial product from scratch, shifting manual recruiting workflows—such as candidate acquisition, qualification, matching, follow-up, and integrations—into an automated system utilizing AI and conversational interfaces.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 5+ years of experience as a strong full-stack engineer capable of building independently from zero
  • Experience automating messy, real-world workflows and shipping LLM or AI-agent functionality
  • Ability to connect APIs, databases, messaging tools, and third-party systems
  • Product-minded approach with high ownership and entrepreneurial ambition
  • Familiarity with the DACH market, with German strongly preferred
  • Background in recruitment or HR tech, ATS/CRM integrations, WhatsApp, voice AI, n8n/Make, matching systems, marketplaces, or workflow-heavy SaaS is particularly relevant
