Mapbox is currently hiring a Security Engineer II for a remote, senior-level position based out of Germany. In this full-time role requiring 40 hours per week, you will join the Security & Compliance team to help engineers across the company build secure-by-default systems, monitor cloud deployments, and conduct risk assessments.
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct AWS security reviews to validate best practices and recommend improvements.
- Partner with the Lead Security Architect to maintain custom-built security tools and bots.
- Perform in-depth security reviews of application code and work with developers to address issues early.
- Collaborate with internal product teams to implement secure-by-default designs.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, which may include responding outside normal working hours and on weekends.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
- 5+ years of experience in product or application security and related software engineering roles.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as GuardDuty, CloudTrail, IAM, Security Groups, CloudFront, CloudFormation, S3, ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, and RDS.
- Proficiency in a programming language like Python, JavaScript, Node.js, or TypeScript, along with strong testing and documentation skills.
- Subject matter expertise in security best practices and risk assessment.
