Senior Backend Engineer - Energy Management Platform in Remote DE, Aachen, Munich
gridX GmbH is seeking a senior level IT professional for a Senior Backend Engineer - Energy Management Platform (all genders) role. This position can be based remotely in Germany, or out of their Aachen or Munich offices. The role requires a bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience, with a stated salary of €1,500.
Core Responsibilities
- Own features end-to-end from analysis and implementation through testing, observability, and iteration.
- Solve problems by shaping pragmatic solutions and driving them from idea to production.
- Keep systems reliable by investigating issues, leading incident response, and using post-mortems for improvement.
- Build for scale by improving system stability, performance, and scalability.
- Create clarity through API specifications and clear component documentation.
- Shape technical direction by driving cross-team architectural decisions and integration patterns.
- Help others grow by mentoring teammates through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions.
- Enable better decisions by writing design documents and RFCs for async decision-making.
Requirements
- Deep backend engineering background with a track record of scaling and operating reliable production systems.
- Systems thinking to identify root causes and architectural gaps.
- Strong autonomy to turn ambiguous problems into actionable plans with minimal guidance.
- Sound technical judgment for pragmatic decision-making.
- High ownership mindset taking work from problem statement through ongoing operation.
- Focus on clear API design and documentation.
- Experience with Go and its ecosystem.
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized services in production.
- Experience with data infrastructure including Redis/Valkey and analytical databases like ClickHouse.
- Experience with incident response and post-mortems.
