Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer in Munich

Auterion is seeking a Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer for an IT role based in Munich. In this position, you will work within the Board Support team to develop and maintain AuterionOS, a custom embedded Linux distribution powering cutting-edge autonomous robotic systems and drone programs for enterprise and government customers.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop features, resolve bugs, write tests, and optimize performance across the AuterionOS ecosystem.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design software solutions, write internal and public documentation, and provide L3 technical support to customers.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, release planning, and task prioritization.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Master's degree (or B.Sc.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, alongside at least 3 years of professional experience writing object-oriented C++ and/or Python code. You will need extensive expertise in embedded architectures, advanced Linux systems, the Linux kernel, embedded device drivers, device tree configuration, and u-boot. The role also requires proficiency with Debian/Ubuntu environments, systemd, Docker, OTA updates, comprehensive networking concepts, network diagnostic tools, embedded security protocols, and basic electrical engineering skills such as reading schematics and debugging communication over I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN bus.
