Senior Research Scientist (Architectures Research) in Europe and the UK

Operating from R&D hubs across Europe and the UK, this senior-level research role focuses on exploring how AI models can attend, remember, reason, and adapt more effectively at lower computational costs.
Core Research Areas and Responsibilities
- Develop new model architectures and methods covering efficient, sparse, and adaptive attention, long-context models, persistent memory, and selective computation.
- Work on post-training transformation of pretrained models and design novel architectures for reasoning and continual adaptation.
- Formulate original research questions, run rigorous experimental programs, and evaluate architectural changes at meaningful model scales.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to validate ideas, publish findings, contribute to open-source models and tools, and mentor other researchers.
Requirements and Background
- A PhD or equivalent research experience in machine learning, backed by 5+ years of relevant expertise.
- Deep knowledge of transformers, attention mechanisms, language-model training, and modern architectures, supported by a strong publication record.
- Strong implementation skills in Python and a modern deep-learning framework, plus experience training or evaluating models at scale.
- Relevant background in long-context modeling, sparse or linear attention, model distillation, or distributed training.
