Senior Satellite Systems Engineer

OKAPI:Orbits GmbH is seeking a Senior Satellite Systems Engineer to join their Engineering team in Brunswick, Germany. In this senior-level role, you will help safeguard space sustainability through advanced space situational awareness technologies, collision avoidance algorithms, and risk mitigation tools for satellite operators.

Core Responsibilities

Your work covers end-to-end mission designs, hardware design reviews at system and subsystem levels, and computing system budgets for link, power, and data. You will also review Product Assurance & Safety Plans, support launch preparation and environmental test campaigns, and shape mission design software development.

What You Need to Apply

• M.Sc. or higher in Aerospace/Space Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a relevant technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in satellite systems engineering across major spacecraft development phases.
• 2+ years of experience in ECSS-compliant development programmes, including formal reviews like SRR, PDR, CDR, QR, and AR.
• Experience contributing to at least one satellite mission that successfully entered operational service.
• C1 English proficiency and valid EU work authorization.
• Willingness to travel and work in concentrated review campaigns.

Familiarity with ECSS product assurance practices, Earth observation missions, and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging are considered nice-to-haves.
