Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Windows/Desktop Applications for an IT role in Berlin, Germany. As part of a globally distributed team of nearly 200 people, you will help advance Speechify's mission to ensure reading is never a barrier to learning through text-to-speech products used by over 50 million people.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++.
- Enforce best practices for Windows desktop development, covering code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility for Windows 10/11+, and maintainability.
- Drive accessibility efforts by integrating Microsoft UI Automation and other frameworks to ensure screen-reader support, keyboard navigation, and usability.
- Own the full feature lifecycle from conception and implementation to release and maintenance.
- Diagnose and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, and memory leaks.
Candidate Requirements
- Education required: PhD or specialized diploma.
- Experience required: 5+ total years of professional experience, including 3+ years specifically in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML.
- Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, managed and native code interop, and native Windows code like C++, Win32, WinRT, or COM.
- Strong background in Windows accessibility APIs, software engineering fundamentals, technical leadership, and cross-functional communication.
The salary for this senior level position ranges from 30,000 to 120,000 USD per year.
