About Datavant
Datavant sits at the center of healthcare's data ecosystem. Our mission is straightforward but ambitious: make the world's health data secure, accessible, and actually useful. We work alongside providers, health plans, researchers, and life sciences companies every day — sometimes helping a single patient track down their medical records, sometimes powering the AI tools reshaping how healthcare gets delivered. Join us, and you're joining a team that genuinely cares about moving the needle on something that matters.
The Role
We're looking for a Vice President of Account Management to take ownership of our relationships with a portfolio of large, complex provider customers — the kind of accounts where the stakes are high and the relationships need real investment. You'll be accountable for keeping these accounts healthy, growing revenue within them, building trust at the executive level, and making sure Datavant isn't just a vendor but a genuine long-term partner in each organization.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll own the overall health of your assigned accounts — retention, growth, the whole picture. That means building relationships at the executive level and across multiple stakeholders within each customer, not just one point of contact.
You'll shape account strategies that actually fit each customer's goals, taking into account where their business is headed and what's happening in their market. When it's time to negotiate renewals or pursue expansion, you'll lead that work hand-in-hand with our GTM and Finance teams.
Part of the job is championing what we've built — our digital tools, global workflows, and newer operating models — and helping customers see the value in adopting them. You'll also need to stay ahead of account risk, catching problems early and driving them to resolution before they become bigger issues.
A big piece of this role is storytelling, in a sense: taking operational data and performance metrics and turning them into a narrative that resonates with senior stakeholders — one that makes the value we're delivering obvious. You'll work closely with our Service Delivery team to keep things transparent and aligned, and you'll partner across Product, Finance, Implementation, and Marketing to follow through on what we promise customers. On top of all that, keeping account plans, forecasts, and CRM records accurate and up to date is part of doing the job well.
What We're Looking For
A bachelor's degree (an advanced degree is a plus, not a requirement)
8 to 12+ years in healthcare account management, strategic sales, or a services-oriented role
A track record of managing large, complicated relationships with provider or enterprise customers
The kind of presence that lets you hold your own — and build trust — with senior executives
Solid commercial instincts: you understand renewals, pricing, and margin, and you know how to navigate them
A real grasp of how healthcare provider organizations operate, including HIPAA considerations
Strong analytical thinking paired with the ability to communicate and present clearly
Willingness to travel fairly often — typically 50-75%
Compensation
Base salary for this role runs $145,600–$167,400 USD, depending on level, experience, and scope. This figure doesn't include variable compensation, which this role is also eligible for. Note that the same job title can span multiple levels, so individual offers vary based on background and responsibilities.
A Few Important Notes
Many of our healthcare clients require post-offer health screenings, and proof of certain vaccinations (flu, Tdap, COVID-19, etc.), in order to protect patients and staff. If you need an exemption, Datavant HR reviews these requests case by case — depending on your state, exemptions may be available for disability, medical contraindications, pregnancy-related conditions, or religious reasons.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Datavant is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. We don't discriminate based on race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected status, and we never take action against employees or applicants for discussing or disclosing their own pay. You can read more in our EEO Commitment Statement, and learn about your rights through the EEOC's Know Your Rights resources.
At the end of the application, you'll see a few optional demographic questions. Answering is entirely your choice, and any responses are kept anonymous — they simply help us spot areas where we can do better in how we recruit.
